A story of generations about families and the special place they live in, sharing love, loss, laughter and life.. Based on the comic book "Here" by Richard McGuire. It was first published as a strip in the comic book magazine Raw; in 1989, and was expanded into a 300-page graphic novel in 2014. At one point early in the film, Richard’s father names several towns that he says are on the Pennsylvania Turnpike, when in fact they are all towns that [ from the trailer] Richard: You know, if you want, you can spend the rest of the night here. Zemeckis has previously made classics like «Forrest Gump,» the Back to the Future trilogy, «Who Framed Roger Rabbit,» «The Polar Express,» and many other great works that I grew up with. However, after «The Walk,» his work has been disappointing and disappointing to say the least. Unfortunately, despite some solid and interesting moments, Zemeckis fails to properly experiment with the concept and ends up being boring, depressing, and uncreative. With themes that are interesting and could be innovative to explore, Zemeckis’ direction and lack of emotional depth ruin what could have been a good film. Filled with bloated plotlines, unbalanced structure, and underdeveloped characters, the emotional weight and engagement becomes more of a snooze fest. It’s almost as if Zemeckis had seen The Tree of Life but somehow missed what made The Tree of Life great, making it more mediocre and boring. There are some rough dialogue and pacing issues. The production design and camerawork are really good, and the use of face-changing CGI is pretty solid, considering the colors and movement. The performances are all good, as it’s nice to see Tom Hanks and Robin Wright together again, as they have good chemistry and scenes. However, it’s let down by a loose and rushed approach that really doesn’t do it justice. Robert Zemeckis will always be one of my favorite directors.
